Documents with limited validity: get them recent before translation
Many authorities, in Morocco and abroad, require certain documents to be recently issued, often less than three months old. A translation does not extend the validity of the original, so it is best to obtain these documents shortly before translation.
Documents usually concerned
- Civil record extracts, such as a short or full birth certificate extract
- Criminal record extract (Bulletin n°3), issued by the Ministry of Justice
- Police record (fiche anthropométrique), issued by the General Directorate of National Security
- Residence and administrative certificates
- Employment and salary certificates, bank statements
What about the adoul marriage contract?
The adoul marriage contract is normally issued once and usually does not need renewing; if it is lost, a duplicate can be requested. The documents above, however, usually have a limited validity for receiving authorities.
Tips to avoid rejection
- Check the validity period required by the receiving authority, as it varies.
- Request the documents shortly before submitting your file, allowing time for translation and apostille if needed.
- Send them to me as soon as you receive them, so the translation can start without delay.

Check before you start
Requirements vary by country and authority, and they change over time. The instructions of the authority receiving your documents always prevail.
