Stipendium Hungaricum: the Hungarian Government Scholarship for Moroccan students
A Hungarian Government scholarship to study at Hungarian universities. Morocco is a partner country, and most programmes are taught in English.
Who is it for?
- Bachelor's (3 to 4 years), master's, one-tier master's (5 to 6 years, straight after the baccalaureate in some fields) and PhD.
- In the 2026-2027 round, about 165 scholarships were offered to Moroccan students.
- Applicants must be at least 18 when their studies start; there is no upper age limit.
- You can choose up to two programmes, ranked by preference.
What does it cover?
- Tuition-free studies.
- A monthly stipend: HUF 43,700 (about EUR 110) for bachelor's and master's; HUF 140,000 then 180,000 for PhD.
- A dormitory place, or a monthly housing contribution of HUF 40,000.
- Healthcare and supplementary insurance.
- Travel costs are not covered.
Documents for a bachelor's application
- Baccalaureate certificate.
- Transcript of records.
- Proof of language proficiency (as required by the university).
- Passport, or national ID card with a commitment to provide the passport later.
- A one-page motivation letter in the language of the programme.
Translation
Documents not issued in English or Hungarian must come with an official translation. The official application guide requires "an official, notarized translation of all your original application documents", and the Moroccan announcement states that all documents must come with a sworn English translation, except documents issued in English or programmes taught in French.
- Transcripts are translated in full.
- Names are spelled as in the passport.
Two application steps (both mandatory)
- Hungarian portal (apply.stipendiumhungaricum.hu): complete the application, choose your programmes and upload your documents and translations. Last round's deadline: 15 January 2026.
- Moroccan Ministry of Higher Education portal (mabourse.enssup.gov.ma): confirm your application after the Hungarian portal closes. Last round: 23 January to 5 February 2026.
Only applicants nominated by their country are eligible, so skipping the second step means losing the scholarship.
When does the 2027-2028 round open?
Not announced yet as of 9 October 2026. It usually opens in November. Prepare your documents, translations and language certificate now.
