Translating Arabic documents for US immigration and visas
US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and US consulates require a full English translation of every document in another language, accompanied by the translator's certification. I translate Arabic documents issued in Morocco and in other Arab countries.
What USCIS requires
Every document not in English must be accompanied by a full English translation, and by the translator's certification that the translation is complete and accurate and that the translator is competent to translate from the original language into English. USCIS does not generally require notarisation.
Visa and consular files
Visa files, especially immigrant visas, also require English translations with a signed statement from the translator confirming accuracy and competence. Always check the document checklist for your type of visa.
What I provide
- A complete translation of the whole document, including stamps, endorsements and marginal notes
- A Certificate of Translation Accuracy in the format used in the US, signed, with my contact details
- A PDF ready for online filing, with a QR code to verify the translation
- Names spelled as in the passports, and Hijri dates converted
Documents usually needed
- Birth certificate (full copy)
- Marriage contracts (including adoul deeds) and divorce documents
- Court judgments (divorce, custody, kafala)
- Criminal record and police certificates
- Diplomas and transcripts, employment certificates and bank statements
Tips
- Send all documents at once, so names are spelled consistently across every translation.
- Check which version of each document US authorities require and how recent it must be; see the guide to documents with limited validity.
- Keep the originals and signed translations: they may be requested at the consular interview.
Requirements vary by country and authority, and they change over time. The instructions of the authority receiving your documents always prevail.
Send copies of your documents, and I will reply with a quote, the turnaround and the right steps for your file.
